Fundraising: Curry & Quiz Night + The Duck Race
In preparation for next year's tour to Austria, we have held a Curry & Quiz night in the school canteen, and a fantastic Duck Race. A superb turn out at the Curry and Quiz night, coupled with great support for the Duck Race meant that we had an extremely successful few months in terms of fundraising!
The Curry & Quiz night was on the 8th of March in the school canteen, and was well supported. The night was a resounding success; performances from various acts and bands went down very well, and Ben Vincent lead us through a varied and eccentric set of questions. The mid-session interval allowed all quiz participants to dive into a fantastic helping of curry - a tremendously tasty element to the evening, that went down a treat with everybody there. The second half finished disappointingly for many, as a rather cliched ending saw a team filled primarily with English teachers take the title of 'Bodmin College Jazz Orchestra Curry & Quiz Night Champions'!! This however, certainly did not detract from the superb evening at the College and one that must certainly be replicated again in the future. A huge thank you needs to be said to everybody who helped out and of course Ben Vincent - quiz master extraordinaire!
The Duck Race, held on the 21st of April was also a catergorical grad slam, making its mark as an awesome fundraising event. Pushing the weather to one side, the afternoon went exceptionally well. The short but sweet duck race - seeing hundreds of ducks race down the river at Cardinham Woods - united with the BBQ run by Daphne and her family - was enough to nudge aside the ominous prospect of a torrential downpour. It was great to see another fundraising event make such a large amount of money, helping towards the Band's funds. A large thank you needs to be said to Daphne for organising the event and also all of the extra help she had laid on to make the afternoon run smoothly.
If anybody else has any other fundraising ideas it would be great to hear them so that we can try to emulate the huge fundraising efforts seen in the past.
