Yes, it’s that time of year again – the time of year when everybody is looking forward to that one event – the End of year Jazz Café. The Jazz Café, this year staged on the 19th July, was a categorical success which surely surpassed, or at least met, our high expectations for the evening! For everybody who’s attended in the past you will know fancy dress is a large factor in our end of year Jazz Cafés. This time around the theme of the night was ‘Rock and Pop Idols and Divas’ – a theme which allowed the band to put on an amazing show of pop and rock legends.

This year we were backed by some fantastic support musicians in the form of Daniel Puckey, Daniel Woodfield and also a mix of this year’s leavers. The mix of talent filled the interval section of the evening and showcased how the Jazz Orchestra has helped these individuals to strive as a solo performer.

We kicked the evening off with a mix of our finest jazz based music – this was the theme for the whole of the first half, however, during the second half we changed our style to fit the theme of the evening – pop and rock.

The end of year Jazz Café has certainly helped out with the substantial amount of fundraising required for next year’s tour and hopefully it will only be added to over the course of the next 12 months.
